The theme of the 2 boot walk on Sunday 16th October was the Comeragh Lakes !

First stop was Coumtay at eye level and then a short sharp climb to the plateau with the reward of a bird’s eye view down on Coumalocha. For new members on the walk visibility was perfect to appreciate the broad and boggy plateau eroded in places down to the Old Red Sandstone bedrock with the occasional peat hag to be surmounted or circumnavigated !

Lunch was had overlooking the Sgilloge Loughs but probably the most dramatic view down on Coumshingaun  was obscured by a sudden squall and low cloud. Return to the cars was via the Mahon River and Comeragh Mountain.
