Good 5 hour workout with500m climbing and 9 k-much of it across untracked heather and peat. Damp day in Comeraghs; 17 walkers on the 1 boot expertly led by long time member and leader Ger Lynch saw little of the dramatic scenery of the plateau except a glimpse of water gushing over the top of the Mahon Falls
Still waiting for 3 boot report to come in! Micheal led a hardy bunch of walkers (8 in total) into the mist from Mahon Falls car park ! — in Mahon Bridge.
Wonderful 2 Boot walk lead by Micheál Brennan on Sunday 6th October 2019. Some new new members had their first taste of the Comeragh Mountains with a mixed walk including an adventure into the cave at Crotty’s Lake and a steep scramble up gully. 7 tired but happy walkers!
Thanks to Frank Balfe , the club’s first walk of the season , took in a circuit of Keadeen Mountain and Carrig in West Wicklow – new territory for the group ! Frank’s extensive knowledge of the history and archaeology of the area (largest mountain ring fort, hill top neolithic burial chambers, Dwyer-McAllister cottage) plus views over to Lugnaquilla and west to the Slieve Blooms added to the enjoyment of a great day out on the hills ; and the fantastic weather was an added bonus.
If interested in joining the club , watch out for details of the Introductory Night on Tuesday 17th in Whitford House Hotel, Wexford
