A light dusting of snow and bright sunshine casts Mt. Leinster into sharp focus

After a very enjoyable and well attended 20th anniversary get together with members past and present, the weekend was rounded off with a 2 boot and 3 boot walk in the Blackstairs. Both groups started together from Raheenkyle with an ascent of Slievebawn and then down to the Nine Stones, followed by a climb up the Black Banks to the mast on Mount Leinster where the group were rewarded with marvelous views of snowcapped mountains in the distance due to the extraordinarily clear and calm conditions enjoyed. After a lunch in the sunshine the two groups split with the 2 boot conturing around to finish with a walk out through the forest at Raheenkyle. Meanwhile the 3 boot went on the “Stony Top” and down into the Mountain River in a vain search for the “rock art” marked on East West Map of the area!
