Following on the success of last year’s trip to Donegal, Mick Kielty again organised this year’s trip that was blessed with good weather unlike the horrendous conditions experienced last year when attempting the Joey Glover route from Muckish to Errigal. A group of twenty club members booked into the welcoming Teach Jack in Bunbeg on the Friday evening and after a hearthy breakfast on the Saturday they headed to Dunlewy for a circuit through the Poisoned Glen to the summit of Sliabh Sneacht and a steep descent to the walk out along the Devlin River valley : a 9 hour day out amidst magnificent scenery capped by perfect visibility.
Sunday was a rest day for most with the few hardy members tackling Errigal before watching the hurling league final! The majority went to Aranmore for a circuit of the island which took in the highest point at 226 m. Not to be outdone some members did Errigal on the way back on Monday but with gusty winds decided not to attempt the final short ridge to the summit !
