A magical day in the Comeraghs today in perfect, warm sunshine above a fog filled Suir valley.
The Moderate+ did ‘the tour’! It took in the Tay valley, Cutteen North coum, Seefin, Coumfea and Coumalocha and a visit to the ‘seanbhain’ before returning via the Mahon Falls. The ice field at the top of the Scillogues was incredible. When the Northern wind is strong it blows the water back uphill over the cliff. Match that with freezing temperatures and the result is this most unusual ice formation on the vegetation at the top.

It was difficult to believe it was February. There were many references to lack of sunscreen, dehydration and ‘maybe we should have gone rock climbing today’!
Sympathies were with all those who lived in Clonmel and Kilsheelan area as the remained in cloud all day.
