The club ran a BOS MS1 course last wk end with 12 eager, enthusiastic and well experienced participants. All have many ‘hill miles’ done before getting to this point. Lots of calculations and debates indoors on Fri evening at Whitford in preparation for a full day in the Comeraghs on Sat. The weather was perfect, intermittent visibility but no rain! Sunday morning saw the group ‘back to the classroom’ in the community hall in Kiltealy followed by an afternoon studying the contour patterns on the slopes of Mt Leinster on foot. The weather was stunning with amazing, continually changing cloud/fog patterns draped over the hills.
The course was led by committee member Colette Mahon. Greg Kenny from the Peaks club (BOS MS Provider) and Helen Lawless (BOS MS Provider and also Access and Conservation Officer with MI) also instructed on the hills.
The group are now embarking on a busy 6 months of practice and building on previous experience, logging walks etc.
Good luck to all!
