Micheál Brennan, from the Tullow Mountaineering Club kindly led the “easy/moderate” walk (mapped below) in the Comeraghs in relativedly pleasant conditions. Coumshingaun lake was exited by a short sharp scramble up the western flank and the group enjoyed fine views of the lakes on the northern side of the plateau . Thank you Micheál! Thanks are also due to Paul Delahunty who led the “moderate” walk from Comeragh Mountain across the plateau and down to Lough Coumfea on the northern side.
On Saturday 11 club members completed the Blackstairs Challenge, a 30 k walk along the spine of the Blackstairs range from Killanure near Bunclody to Glynn in Co. Carlow with over 1600 m of climbing and taking an average of 9 hours to complete.First lady home was Club Member LIz Sinnott in a time of 6 hours 17 minutes; new member , Betty Bolger, also completed the Challenge for the first time.
On Sunday, John Atkinson and Turlough O Brien led a walk on Mt Leinster taking in Knockroe on return . The picture shows some of the group at the Knockroe Dolmen – a major archaeological feature not marked on the OS map!
Terrific coaching session on movement skills on the rock at Rocklands in glorious sunshine.

A group of 14 members travelled to their base at The Culdees, Aberfeldy, Perthshire for a few days walking in the Scottish Highlands. They were joined by former colleague, Dr. Bryan Griffiths who led a number of walks. As slide show graphically shows, the group encountered a mixture of weather!
