Taking a break at Hollow of Lugueer

A group of 20 in the capable hands of Anthony and Liz “conquered” Lug on Sunday last! A car split allowed for a linear climb from the car park at the top of Glenmalure, up past old mine workings, up the wooded valley of Fraughan Rock Brook and the first steep climb of the day past the waterfalls at Falls Brook; this was followed by a more gradual climb around a series of “mini-cliffs” until the final sharp ascent onto the plateau with a short walk then to the actual summit.

Descent was via Lough Mountain and with improved visibility spectacular views of Kelly’s Lough to the car park at Drumgoff Recreation Area.
