Either side of Saturday 25th the climbing group assailed various gullies and rock faces but on the Saturday the walkers joined forces with the mountaineers, in rain and with very wet conditions underfoot, to tackle O’Shea’s Gully and on to Carrauntoohil descending via the Zig Zags ( the climbing group took the more challenging descent of the Devil’s Ladder!). As the photos will show there were more people on top than you would see in the Bullring on a busy shopping day !
On Friday Stumpa and Beenkeeragh Ridge were tackled by one party while the other group assailed Brassel Mtn up to Cnoc na Peiste ridge.
On Sunday the rock climbers were out early in the Gap of Dunloe while a small group of walkers, having been kindly dropped at the top of the Gap walked back to Kate Kearney’s cottage via the lower slopes of Purple Mountain and Tomies having been deterred from the summits by poor visibility and high winds
