In the capable hands of Joe and Noel , a brave group(the forecast wasn’t great! ) tackled a horseshoe route in the Galtees that took in Cush , Galtybeg and Galtymore. The ascent to Galtybeg became very challenging with winds that in the estimation of the club’s foremost mariner were of  hurricane strength forcing a tactical circuit around the summit ; the approach to Galtymore took advantage of lower ground to shelter from the northerly gale and only two members braved the elements to climb the last few metres to the summit ! The route distance was 13 k with a total height gain of 1100m ! And in the end fortune favoured the brave in one sense : there was no rain until all the group were safely back in the cars when the forecast heavy rain made its appearance!
